Preparation of Hydriodic acid: It is prepared by reaction of iodine with red phosphorus. The iodine and red phosphorus are slowly added to the reactor under stirring. Collect filtrate at 125~130 °C after filtration and distillation. Add distilled water to get content qualified reagents.

Uses of Hydriodic acid: It is used as analytical reagents, reducing agents and also for the preparation of iodide. What's more, it's used as reducing agent to restore alkenyl silicon ether and split ether.
