Microcalorimetic measurements at 520–550 K of the heats of thermal decomposition of Fe2Ru(CO)12, FeRu2(CO)12 and Ru3(CO)12 lead to values of the standard enthalphy of formation (ΔHof, c/kJ mol-1) as follows: Fe2Ru(CO)12 (1820 ± 14); FeRu2(CO)12 (1891 ± 16); Ru3(CO)12 (1903 ± 18). Enthalpies of sublimation are estimated and the ironruthenium bond enthalpy contribution is derived as E(FeRu) (95 ± 20) kJ mol-1.
