We report a facile synthesis route to a series of high-quality carbon nanotube/metal oxide (CNT/MO) nanocomposites including CNT/Co3O4, CNT/SnO2, CNT/Fe3O4, and CNT/NGP (nickel glycolate polymer) without functionalization of pristine CNT. Using pristine CNT, various metal salts, and sodium acetate as raw materials, the CNT/Fe3O4 and CNT/NGP nanocomposites were successfully synthesized via one-step solvothermal reaction, while the nanocomposites CNT/Co3O4 and CNT/SnO2 by an easy two-step process of solvothermal followed by heat treatment. The microscopic analysis revealed that the MO nanoparticles and NGP are uniformly deposited on the CNT's surface with high dispersion. This strategy is also applicable to decoration of CNT with other MO nanoparticles to form high-quality CNT/MO nanocomposites.
