DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 11 (Plant Biochemistry) After a single crossing of mangold (Beta cicla MM) beet with monogerm forms (Yaltushkorskoe odnosemyannoe cultivar) , fully monogerm forms with mangold type of sucrose distribution along the root were attained. 57-50-1 is also in the experiment. The selection for monogerms was most effective when it was carried out simultaneously on homo- and heterozygote biotypes with regard to the dominant multigerm gene (MM and Mm). The no. of monogerm forms increased gradually from 1st to 7th progeny of the hybrid. In the monogerms selected, the sugar content of parenchyma cells was 0.8 points higher than in cells of the vascular bundles. .
