Fluorobenzonitrile series

The fluorobenzonitrile series refers to a group of aromatic compounds derived from benzonitrile, where one or more hydrogen atoms on the benzene ring are replaced with fluorine atoms. Examples include 2-fluorobenzonitrile, 3-fluorobenzonitrile, and 4-fluorobenzonitrile, distinguished by the position of the fluorine atom relative to the nitrile group (-CN). These compounds combine the electronic effects of both the nitrile and fluorine substituents, resulting in unique chemical and physical properties. Fluorobenzonitriles are valuable intermediates in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and advanced materials.
