Biological response modifiers
Biological response modifiers (BRMs) are a diverse group of substances that modulate the immune system and other physiological processes to enhance the body's response to disease or injury. These modifiers can include cytokines, growth factors, interferons, interleukins, and monoclonal antibodies, among others. BRMs exert their effects by interacting with specific receptors on immune cells or target tissues, influencing immune responses, inflammation, cell growth, and differentiation. They are used therapeutically to treat various conditions such as cancers, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, and immune deficiencies. By regulating immune function and modifying cellular activities, BRMs aim to restore or enhance the body's natural defense mechanisms, promoting health and aiding in the treatment of complex medical conditions.
