  • With the growth in the living standard, overnutrition has become rather common among people. Overnutrition can cause various diseases, such as obesity, high blood pressure and high blood fat. Calculus is also one of serious results caused by overnutrition. The rate of getting calculus among people is becoming higher and higher at present. 

    Calculus can be divided into kidney calculus and biliary calculus. The biliary calculus is mainly caused by four factors, namely, the intake of greasy foods, the lack of breakfast, the lack of dietary fibers and the excessive intake of refined sugar. If people always do not have breakfast, the mental depression or nervousness can be caused, which is the hidden danger of causing calculus. The lack of dietary fibers can increase the risks of getting calculus. The excessive intake of refined sugar can cause the sedimentation of cholesterol. The kidney calculus is mainly caused by the excessive accumulation of oxalic acid. Various kinds of foods contain high content of oxalic acid, such as spinach, tea, tomato and bean products. Each 200 milligrams of spinach can contain 725.6 milligrams of oxalic acid.

    In order to treat calculus, people should maintain the proper diet. First, people should strictly control the intake of cholesterol. The foods containing high content of cholesterol should be avoided as far as possible. These foods mainly include animal liver, egg yolk and crab cream. The oil-fried foods also contain much cholesterol. Second, people should supplement for the body. Lecithin can accelerate the fat metabolism and prevent obesity. Third, people should decrease the intake of foods containing oxalic acid. Just as what has been mentioned above, the accumulation of oxalic acid is one of the reasons of causing calculus. Fourth, people should increase the intake of milk, fruits and vegetables. These foods are alkaline, which can make the urine become alkaline so as to remove the oxalic acid from the human body. Fifth, patients should decrease the intake of calcium during the treatment. Kidney calculus is also the calculus of calcium salt. Therefore, the intake of calcium salt should be strictly controlled. The foods containing high content of calcium like milk and bean products should be taken moderately. In addition, the foods containing purine should also be avoided, as purine is also one of the elements to cause calculus. The foods containing much purine mainly include sea food, hyacinth bean, cauliflower and coarse food grain.
