  • What Should We Eat for Breakfast?
  • It has been known to all that breakfast is very important to our health. Breakfast should be very nutritious, because on the one hand, it has to make up the nutrition lost in the body during the previous night; and on the other hand, it has to provide enough energy for the study and work in the new day. Then, what foods are appropriate for us to eat at breakfast?

First of all, as breakfast is the "switch" of the brain, while the energy of the brain mainly comes from carbohydrates, so you should take in a number of starchy foods at breakfast. It is best to choose some coarse food grains without fine finishing, mixed with some nuts and dried fruit. Such foods release energy very slowly, so they can extend the time of energy supplement. These foods include steamed bread, steamed stuffed bun, wonton, nuts bread, toast, polenta and so on.

Secondly, there should be enough protein at breakfast, so as to maintain human body full of energy and with sensitive reactions. As protein can release the energy continuously within a few hours, so it can last a longer time before you feel hungry. Foods which are rich in protein include eggs, beef, soybean products and so on.

Thirdly, breakfast should include some vegetables and fruits, such as cold dishes, vegetable salad, fruit salad and so on. This is not only to supplement water-soluble vitamins and fibers, but also because that fruits and vegetables contain some alkaline substances such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, which can neutralize the acid radicals produced by the oxidation of meat, eggs and other food in the body, so as to achieve the acid-base balance.

Last but not the least, it is noteworthy that you should not eat too much fried foods at breakfast, such as deep-fried dough sticks, deep-fried dough cakes, etc. Although these foods can give people the feeling of satiety, however, as they contain too much fat and cholesterol, it will take long time to digest them, which will easily cause the blood stay in the digestive system, resulting in the reduction of blood flow in the brain. As a result, it may make people unable to concentrate during the whole morning.
