Several new ruthenocenophanes were propared and their bridge reversal energy barriers were studied by a variable NMR method.The bridge reversal energy barrier of 1,3-dithia-2,2-dimethyl<3>ruthenocenophane (ΔG* 47.3 kJ mol-1) is larger than that of corresponding ferrocenophane (ΔG* 42.8 kJ mol-1).This is attributable mainly to the difference in inter-ring distance between the ruthenocene and ferrocene nuclei.
