The heterobimetallic complexes (η⁵-C2H5)NiCo(CO)3(C2R¹R²) 1 = Ph; R² = Ph or Me> react with Fe2(CO)9 to yield the heterotrimetallic clusters (η⁵-C5H5)NiCoFe(CO)6(C2R¹R²); the stereochemistry of a triphenylphosphine derivative, the title compound, has been established by a single-crystal X-ray structure analysis.
