Reactions of Na2Fe(CO)4 with MeMn(CO)5 and MeMoCp(CO)3 result in transfer of the methyl group and formation of MeFe(CO)4- and Mn(CO)5- or CpMo(CO)3-, respectively. These reactions are first order in [Fe(CO)42-] and in the concentration of methyl complex. The reaction of Na2Fe(CO)4 with MeRe(CO)5 is quite slow and produces a mixture of products. No reaction is observed between Na2Fe(CO)4 and MeFeCp(CO)2.
