To investigate the effect of the anion on the catalytic effect of η³-allylbis(ligand)nickel(II) complexes X, the tetrafluoroborates (X = BF4) with L = Me3CNC, P(OPh)3, P(OThym)3, COD_1/2 and SbPh3 were prepared, characterized by elemental analysis and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and their catalytic properties compared with the corresponding hexafluorophosphates (X = PF6).On account of the stronger coordination of the anion, the tetrafluoroborates show a rather reduced activity and cis selectivity, depending on ligand L.
