2,4-Dioxatricyclo<3.3.1.1^3,7>decane, a unique acetal with both oxygens axial on tetrahydropyran rings, is formed spontaneously when all-cis 3,5-dihydroxy-1-cyclohexaneacetaldehyde is generated in acid.
