Unusual Addition and Cycloaddition Reactions of 2-Amino-3-cyanopyrroles with Dimethyl Acetylenedicarboxylate and Methyl Propynoate

Amino group activated 4,5-dimethylpyrroles react with acetylenecarboxylate derivatives in a hitherto unknown manner.The formation of the 5-indolone derivatives 6a, b, c, e, g, h as main products depends on the solvent medium.The 1:2 addition product 3a shows an unusual reactivity yielding the isoindole derivative 4a and the isoquinoline derivative 5a.
