A New Synthetic Route to Dehydrodipeptides Containing ΔAsp Residue from Oxazine-2,4-dione Derivatives

Reaction of N-benzyloxycarbonyl-dehydroaspartic acids with SOCl2 gave N-carboxy dehydroaspartic acid anhydride or oxazine-2,4-dione-6-carboxylic acids depending on the starting materials.The latter were found to be very useful compounds for the synthesis of various dehydropeptides.
