In catalytic reduction (5percent Pt-C, 1 atm H2) of 4-alkoxynitrobenzenes (R¹O-C6H4-NO2) in alcohol(R²OH)-sulfuric acid solution at room temperature, the reduction was found to be accompanied by transetherification to afford R²O-C6H4-NH2.
