Diene-transmissive Diels-Alder reaction of 1,3-bis(p-tolymethylene)-2-propanethione has been investigated. The cycloadducts obtained by the reaction of the thione with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and diethyl azodicarboxylate underwent Diels-Alder reaction further with various dienophiles to give sulfur-containing polycyclic compounds.
