Glucopyranosyl bromides bearing a C-2 alkoxycarbonyl protective group were treated with alcohols under Koenigs-Knorr conditions.Depending on the promotor, the condensations afforded β-D-glucosides, orthocarbonates, or both with a high stereoselectivity.Th
