The first azatriphosphapentadiene, stabilized on an iron center: Formation and X-ray structural characterization

Reaction of [CIP=N(2,4,6-(t-Bu)₃C₆H₂)] (1) with Na[(η₃-(2,4,6-(t-Bu)₃C₆H ₂)PC(H)P(2,4,6-(t-Bu)₃C₆H ₂))Fe(CO)₃] (2) affords the novel 1-aza-2,3,5-triphosphapenta-1,4-diene complex [(η¹,η ¹-Ar*P=C(H)P-(Ar*)P=NAr*)Fe(CO)₃] (3; Ar* = 2,4,6-(t-Bu)₃C₆H₂), the structural features of which are discussed in relation to those of a carbon analogue.
