The reaction of fac- (prepared in situ) with an equimolar quantity of GeCl4 rapidly affords the molybdenum(II) seven-coordinate complex (1) in quantitative yield.Equimolar quantities of 1 and L (L=PPh3, AsPh3 or SbPh3) react in CH2Cl2 or NCMe to give or , respectively.The reactions of and with a series of neutral and anionic donor ligands are described.Complex 1 reacts with two equivalents of L (L=PPh3, AsPh3, SbPh3 or PPh2Cy) in CH2Cl2 to afford and .Reactions of are also discussed.Key words: Molybdenum; Acetonitrile; Germanium; Monodentate
