A metastable solution of GaCl reacts with LiCp or MgCp2 compounds to a number of new cyclopentadienylgallium(1) species: GaCp^*, GaCp^t-Bu, GaCp^(SiMe3)3 and GaCp^(Benzyl)5.They are characterized by their mass and NMR spectra (1H, 13C and 71Ga).By comparison with analogous Al and Mg compounds η⁵-bonding has to be concluded for all GaCp derivatives.
