It has been shown that the reactions of tricarbonyl(η⁶-2-lithiothiophene)chromium(0) with various arene carboxaldehydes yields mixtures of unequal amounts of diastereoisomers, which can be separated by flash chromatography.The structures of the products have been established by 1H NMR spectroscopy and by independent synthesis.A novel synthesis of tricarbonyl(η⁶-thiophene)chromium(0) (1) is described.Key words: Chromium; Thiophene; Carbonyl; Aldehyde
