SYNTHESIS OF SOME SUBSTITUTED 8-TRIFLUOROMETHYLNITROPHENOTHIAZINES

The synthesis of variedly ring substituted phenothiazines with two strong electron-withdrawing groups (trifluoromethyl and nitro) have been accomplished by the reactions of some reactive halonitrobenzenes with the zinc mercaptide of 2-amino-4-trifluoromethylbenzenethiol.The products have been characterised by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, 19F NMR and mass spectral studies.
