A novel route to the chemical synthesis of 65- and/or 45-O-glycosyl p-nitrophenyl α-maltopentaoside derivatives for the differential assay of human α-amylases is described. The synthesized compounds were characterized by optical rotation measurements, IR, and NMR spectroscopy.
