A new preparative method for the synthesis of 3(5)-amino-4-nitropyrazole starting from accesible 3(5)-methylpyrazole has been elaborated.Nitration of the former affords 3(5)-nitramino-4-nitropyrazole or 1,4-dinitro-3-aminopyrazole, depending on the reaction conditions. - Key words: 3(5)-amino-4-nitropyrazole, aminonitropyrazoles, nitration.
