Synthesis of novel 1-alkyl or 1-aryl-2-(4-substituted-1-piperazinyl)-1H-benzothieno[2,3-d]imidazoles

The synthesis of novel 1-alkyl or 1-aryl-2-(4-substituted-1-piperazinyl)-1H-benzothieno[2,3-d]imidazoles 7e-x starting from 2-nitro-3-bromobenzo[b]thiophene is described. These compounds were prepared as potential H₁-antihistaminic agents.
