Treatment of alkylenebismalonates with NaH and benzoyl peroxide afforded dibenzoyloxy derivatives.Alkaline hydrolysis of the latter gave alkylenebistartronic acids.Tetramethyl and tetraethyl esters and tetraamides of these acids were synthesized. - Key words: alkylenebistartronic acids; synthesis.
