sharp increase in the region of rigid gel origination. Sensitivity
of pyridinium salts as probes increases with an increase in
dialkylamino substituent size and decreases in the presence of
substituents which twist the molecule in the ground state. This
sensitivity also depends on the type of anion in the salt. The
studied pyridinium salts are nonsolvatocromic (changes in
polarity in their environment have no meaningful influence on
their emission).
