New polydentate amphiphilic phosphines containing polyether chains are prepared; unprecedented coordination and reactivity of the hemilabile ligand PPh[(CH₂)₃CHMe₂][(CH₂CH ₂O)₃Me] are found; the η³ mode of bonding of this ligand is demonstrated by X-ray crystallographic studies.
