The 4,17,30-trithia-[7₃](1,3,5)cyclophane (1) has been prepared by a two-stage, palladium assisted coupling of propargylOTHP with 1,3,5-tribromobenzene, followed by sulfide ring closure. The intermediate (8) on deprotection, followed by bromination and reaction with Na₂S gives 1 in 58% yield.
