A number of new orthogonally protected asymmetric cystine derivatives have been developed for the synthesis of peptides containing disulphide bridges. Their synthesis was accomplished by PhI(OAc)2 mediated oxidation of cysteine derivatives and using the Npys group to activate the thiol group.
