A number of ruthenium complexes, RuL2(H2O)2Cl2 (where L = monodentate Schiff bases derived from 3-and 4-anisaldehyde, 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, 4-chlorobenzaldehyde with 4-toluidine and 4-aminobenzoic acid) and RuL'(H2O)(PPh3)Cl2 (where L' = bidentate Schiff bases derived from 2-nitrobenzaldehyde or 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde with 3,4-diaminotoluene), have been prepared. These complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, conductance measurements and magnetic moments.
