The tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) derivatives 3a, 3b and 17 react with Vilsmeier reagent to yield the aldehydes 4a, 4d, 5b, 18 and 19.These condense with CH acids to give the pyrano-THC derivatives 6a, 6b, 6d, 6e, 8, 10 and 20.
