5-(Aryl)-1,4',5'-trimethylspiro[bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2,2'- [1,3]dioxolanes] are transformed to substituted ketolactones by treatment with m-chloroperbenzoic acid in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid.
