The Stetter procedure has been adapted to produce oligomeric and polymeric pyrrolylpyridines, which have been characterised by ¹³C NMR spectroscopy. The lower activity of 2-(pyrrol-2-yl)pyridines towards quaternisation permits selective N-alkylation of 2-, 3- and 4-(pyrrol-2-yl)pyridines. Copyright
