Conclusions
In conclusion, we have developed a turn-on fluorescence
method to detect Al3+ and PPi using an isophthaloyl salicyl-
aldehyde hydrazone (ISH) type amide containing Schiff base
moiety with high selectivity in methanol : water. In our assay,
Al3+ and PPi could selectively bind to ISH, which resulted in a
fluorescence enhancement in two different wavelengths in a
reversible manner and thus it mimics the logic gates. The
reversible binding is also explained by NMR spectroscopy.
