fellowship program with the UN University in energy, environment, resources
and sustainability. Prior to migrating to Australia in 1998, Narayan had sig-
nificant experience in community development work in non-government
organisations in India. Focus of his work related to social, community and
economic development issues with rural and tribal communities. His research
interests include rural development, issues affecting tribal groups, genuine
participatory approaches, economic rationalism and globalisation.
