The reaction of 2-methylbenzoxazines 1a,b with methylanthranilate 2 yielded quinolino[2,1-bjquinazoline derivatives 3a,b. The reaction of compounds 3a,b with p-nitrobenzaldehyde 4 gave the arylidene derivatives 5a,b. The reaction of compounds 5a,b with hydrazine hydrate, hydroxylamine HCl urea and thiourea gave the fused heterocyclic derivatives 6a,b; 7a,b and 8a,d respectively.
