When heated several days at 230 deg C, 1,2,5-triphenylphosphole yields 2,2',3,3',5,5'-hexaphenyl-1,1'-biphospholyl through a transient 2H-phosphole.The reactions of this biphospholyl with lithium, manganese carbonyl, and molybdenum carbonyl are described.
