The chemoselective and stereoselective addition of organocuprates to cyclic α-oxoketene dithioacetals affords predominately the E vinylogous thioesters.An acylic α-oxoketene dithioacetal affords the Z vinylogous thioester stereoselectively.The observed selectivities are dependent upon substrate structure and the organocopper reagent.
