A stereocontrolled synthesis of 4'-hydroxymethylated ribo-C-nucleosides and a new psico-C-nucleoside has been accomplished on the basis of the <3+4> reductive cyclocoupling reaction of α,α,α',α'-tetrabromoacetone and furfuryl acetate.
