The first total synthesis of both (+/-)-cycloeudesmol (3) and (+/-)-epicycloeudesmol (4) is described.The key stereospecific construction of the bicyclo<3.1.0>hexane system was conveniently achieved by an olefin-ketocarbene cyclization reaction.
