Characteristic bitter principles, named dukunolides A, B, and C, in seeds of Lansium domesticum have been proven to be skeletally new tetranortriterpenoids 1, 2, and 3.The structure of 1 is definitely established by X-ray analysis, and that of 2 is confirmed by the chemical correlation with 1 by epoxidation.The absolute configuration of these compounds has been deduced from that of dukunolide C p-bromobenzonate, established by X-ray study.
