obtained in the higher pH solutions (ca. 5.0) belong to two-
dimensional (2D) array structures in which the N atoms of
the amino groups can be coordinated to the metal ions, and
the complexes formed in the lower pH solutions (ca. 4.0)
possess binuclear structures in which the N atoms of the
amino groups are uncoordinated; however, for light-RE or
heavy-RE ions, the effect of solution pH on the crystal
structure of the complexes can be neglected in the range of
pH 4–5. The above observations indicate that various
