the oxidation of CyH. Higher conversions were observed when

sp carbons were used as catalyst, indicating that sp carbons
3
are more active catalysts than those of sp hybridization. It can
be attributed to their higher activity in catalyzing the decom-
position of CyOOH intermediates, thus enhancing the overall
activity and the formation of CyOH and QQO. By taking BP as a
2
model compound of peroxide, the sp -carbon-catalyzed decomposi-
tion was demonstrated. The results suggested that graphenes may
be a promising catalyst for the oxidation of CyH in the liquid phase,
2
because of their dominant sp carbon atoms in basal planes and
extremely high theoretical SSA values.

reported in the literature. The BP consumption was slightly
increased after loading diamonds. An obvious improvement, up
to 60% BP conversion, was observed when graphite carbons were
added. Moreover, about 92% BP consumption was achieved by
applying graphenes as catalysts. These results demonstrated that

Meso-G and nano-D were selected as typical sp - and sp -hybridized
carbons for measuring detailed kinetic parameters, respectively. As
shown in Table 5, the apparent activation energy was dramatically
lower over meso-G than that over nano-D, demonstrating the
2
capability of sp carbons to activate peroxides. Being similar to
the CyH oxidation kinetics, negative reaction orders of BP, at
about À2, were measured for both of the carbons, implying the
crucial role of peroxide decomposition in the oxidation reaction.
