Kinetics of the high temperature reaction of CO with N2O was investigated in a shock tube.For CO2 formation in CO-N2O-He-Ar mixtures, it was found that the bimolecular reaction (1) CO +N2O -> CO2 + N2 was predominant below 2000 K and the termolecular recombination (6) CO + O + M -> CO2 + M became important above 2000 K.The rate constants of the reactions were determined by a comparison of the calculated infrared emission profiles of CO2 with those observed by experiments.The rate constants were found to be k1 = 9.8E10 exp(-73kJ/RT)cm3/mol*s and k6 = 1.6E15exp(-30kJ/RT)cm6/mol2*s.
