This plausible mechanism accounted very well for the struc-
tural and valence stability, as well as the activity of the Au1/
mpg-C N catalyst. On the other hand, no silanol was formed

under oxygen-free conditions, indicating that oxygen plays a
vital role in this oxidation reaction.[

To demonstrate the utility and industrial applicability of
this catalyst, large scale oxidations of diphenylmethylsilane (of
which the product diphenylmethylsilanol is the most widely
used in industrial substances) and triphenylsilane (which is
among the most challenging substrates to oxidize). Two batches
of reactions respectively on 1 and 5 gram scales produced the
desired products in excellent yields and selectivity (Figure S20,

In summary, we developed a single-site Au catalyst for the
oxidation of silanes with water. Owing to its structure, this
catalyst shows many advantages including high reactivity, high
stability, and high recyclability. We also show for the first time
that single-site heterogeneous Au is capable of SiH activation,
which is not achieved by homogeneous Au salt. Our work not
