Measurement of Gas Phase Reactions Using Automated Headspace Gaschromatography

The kinetics of the gas phase-conversion of O,O-dimethylmaleic ester into O,O-dimethyl fumaric ester, catalyzed by piperidine, were measured in the gas phase at 95 deg C.Headspace-sample flasks served as the reaction vessels for the gaseous components and an automated headspace gaschromatograph as the sampling and analyzing system.The method was applied to investigate the thermal decomposition of DFP and sarin to propene in the range of 148 to 189 deg C. - Keywords: Headspace gaschromatography; Gas reactions; O,O-Dimethyl maleic ester; O,O-Dimethyl fumaric ester; DFP; Sarin
