diethyl ether (2 Â 20 ml) was added to the residue and filtered. The filtrate was
washed with water (2 Â 20 ml) and the organic layer dried with anhydrous
Na2SO4 to obtain the pure products in 85–95% yields after evaporation of
the solvent. The spent catalyst from different experiments was washed with
diethyl ether and used again without further drying.
