The reaction of Ti(NMe2)4 with the amine functionalised cyclopentadiene C5H5CH2CH2CH2N(H)CMe3 gives the titanium cyclopentadienyl-amide complex [Ti{η5:σ1-(C5H4CH2CH2CH2NCMe3)}(NMe2)2] which reacts with aniline to generate the phenylimido bridged dimer [{Ti(η5-C5H4CH2CH2CH2N(H)CMe3)(NHPh)}2(μ-NPh)2] whose molecular structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction, revealing a slightly asymmetric Ti(μ,-NPh)2Ti core.
